I received my bachelors degree in psychology and sociology from Emory and Henry College and a masters in occupational therapy from Shenandoah University. I have worked with children as an occupational therapist since 1998 in various settings such as public school, private school, and private clinic settings.
My professional certifications and training include:
North Carolina licensure (OT/L)
IMC (Interactive Metronome Certified)
Therapeutic Listening Certified
Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI)
Extensive experience and training with Handwriting Without Tears protocol
Extensive assistive technology experience in the field of written output
I truly feel blessed that I am an occupational therapist. Even though I have lots of interests, I feel that occupational therapy allows me to integrate my interests (crafts, gardening, sports, photography and technology) with therapy. If you want to get stuck in a conversation with me, ask me about handwriting skills. I am passionate about handwriting remediation through a sensory and developmental approach. I strongly believe in proper manuscript and cursive instruction in children. I am also very passionate about working with children with ADD/ADHD to improve their success and confidence in school, sports and home life. Since I have a child with ADHD that has struggled immensely in school, I find myself always on a personal mission to help my son and other children to have the happiness and success they deserve as children.
My husband, Rob, and I live in Charlotte with our two children.
